Match Report 8/9/08
Well we had a beautiful afternoon to shoot, 78 degrees and our usual 10 mph swirlies. Arlin and I shot Match Class 1st relay while Fred shot his first three Unlimited targets and s orted out a few loading gremlins with his Theoben. Now Fred is a big guy and the same age as me, that is to say objects up close appear are fuzzier than they actually are. Seems that when loading his magazines not all of those tiny .177 pellets went in nose first! Needless to say he had a few holes in the target where he would rather not have had them. We may have to get him one of those big old magnifying glasses to load with. Personally I have found that without my glasses I can't tell one end of the little buggers from the other when loading either. I've put a new 5mm Lothar Walther barrel on my Steyr HP100 and it seems to be shooting qiute well and the pellets are much easier to handle.
Next up are a few stock modifications. Arlin is using an Anschutz 2002 in the match class and a FWB P70 FT for unlimited so we've got a pretty good variety on the line. Now what we're really hoping for is a clam day to use them. Next match will be Sept. 13th. following our ARA match.
